There are a total of 79 beds in the home comprised of 7 units, inclusive of two purpose-built apartments (Crana Unit)
• All single occupancy with en-suite. All our accommodation complies with Fitness of the Premises-New Homes and those Registered since February 2008.
• All bedrooms within our seven units have en-suite facilities finished to a modern high standard.
• Natural sunlight (very important in dementia care) is enhanced by provision of extensive light tunnels: artificial lights and appropriate curtains also provided throughout in accordance with Stirling’s recommendation.
• Series of secure gardens with many dementia friendly features providing direct access via conservatories and sheltered areas from within.
• All flooring specification including colour schemes of architraves, hand rails, walls are dementia friendly in line with modern recommendations for dementia care based on the Stirling University guidelines.
• All décor and fittings throughout (including bathrooms/en-suites/toilets) adhere to dementia friendly principles e.g. good colour contrasts, colour coding.
• Clear signs on bedrooms/lounges and day rooms with age appropriate furnishings and emphasis on colour contrast. Dining areas with homely furnishings e.g. dining room table, side-board, dressers.
• Each unit is individually themed by use of pictures from different areas of the city and local counties – these pictures are an excellent tool for reminiscent therapy.
• Activity focused areas throughout the complex including our (non-alcoholic) themed bar space with patio garden.
• We have 4 individual gardens/ 5 patio gardens, two internal gardens and two balcony areas, all secured by gate and appropriate fencing, are all dementia friendly with appropriate signs. These all have a variety of sheltered areas as well as interesting walks and activity areas.
• There is a multi-use function/ activity area named the Coffee Doc situated to the fore of the Foyle & Faughan Units for arts and crafts/social gatherings/ visiting and spiritual gatherings.
• The home provides transport via two specialist buses and employs our own experienced qualified drivers.
• We have large lounge spaces which accommodate concerts, parties and religious gatherings.
• Hairdressing Salon with stylist in regular attendance.
