Situated on a beautiful site overlooking the River Foyle Owen Mor Care Home is located on the Culmore Road approx. three and half mile from the city centre with access to local bus routes. Owen Mor Care Centre is a registered nursing care provider, providing care 24 hours a day. This is carried out by highly trained nurses who are fully committed to their own learning and development needs. We have a dedicated team of care staff with experienced senior carers and developing carers who have access to NVQ in care and Health & Social Care training opportunities. Our aim is to provide a safe and caring comfortable environment which provides stimulation, offering choice and encouragement to residents to pursue their lives to the maximum, physical, emotional and social capacity. We provide access to a wide range of activities and have our own dedicated activities therapists. Our activity co-ordinators consider the needs, wishes of each service user. We include family members as much as possible in all activities from the day the resident arrives through to all planned activities.
Hobbies and interests are actively encouraged and personally supervised by staff who understand their importance to residents. Together, with an experienced therapist, we plan for a variety of social activities and regular local outings using appropriate transport. Owen Mor Care Centre owns two company vehicles which are specially adapted to suit users of wheelchairs.
The Registered Manager, Joy Hynds is a Registered Nurse and has been in nursing for 20 years and has gained substantial experience in many scopes of practice including Dementia Care, Learning Disability, Physical Disability, Acquired Brain Injury. Joy has also relevant training in Leadership and management.
